No human being could or would compose the complex and intricate life-routes of the biblical narrative stories of faith.
What possible frame of reference would someone use as a guide?
The Bible was written by 40 authors over a time-period of 1,500 years…from a number of geographical areas, diverse cultures, and in a variety of genres…yet all having the same consistent and cohesive message. This is unique and distinctive in all of human history.
The main theme of the Bible is that we can have a personal relationship with the living God…our Father and Creator…within an imaginative and uniquely original storyline…having the cross of Jesus Christ centrally woven into the fabric of our life events and circumstances.
There is no similar frame of reference to be found in worldly conventional normalcy and thinking. This is why worldly conventional thinking will never understand a journey of faith (Jn 7:1-9, 8:47, 15:18-20). Worldly conventional normalcy and a journey of faith are on different points on the vertical graph-line spectrum of goodness and light.
What is worldly conventional normalcy and thinking? It is paying our bills, doing the right thing, telling the truth, keeping our word, being unselfish and thoughtful of others…as Spirit-born Christians it is “occupy till I come” (Lk. 91:13).
But in the large expanse of worldly conventional normalcy and thinking we also find cutting corners, cheating, letting other people down, falling short of our talents, choosing the easy way, dishonesty, thefts, murders, covetousness, political intrigue, rebellion, and atrocities of all sorts and types.
A God-composed journey of faith life-script overlaps and intersects all of this…otherwise the Christian life would instead be to go off into the wilderness as solitary hermits…which is the antithesis of the pattern of the life of Paul, Peter, and the other first-century disciples…to go out into the world but not be a part of the world (Mt 28:19-20; Jn 15:16).
Colossians 3:1-3 reads: “If ye be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set you affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
A God-composed journey of faith life-script is located in an area of reality and experience that is above and foreign…in a novel and critically necessary way…that is inaccessible by the normal route of conventional thinking (Mt. 7:13-14).
Going on a life-journey with God is difficult yet deeply satisfying…because it divinely blends purpose with our innate abilities that fits together perfectly like jigsaw puzzle pieces…the ultimate practical, popularly familiar expression of premeditated foresight in design…of a full-size picture put together in successive small steps leading toward a certain and sure end-point…devised by the jigsaw puzzle designer and manufacturer.
